INDIA UPDATE

Many physicists today postulate the existence of multiple universes, even when sober. We used to live in a world of infinite possibilities. Now we live in an infinite number of worlds. India shines. Democracy thrives. The economy booms. A hundred flyovers bloom. This is not that India. If you see your picture here one day, don’t worry. That’s not you.

MAN ARRESTED FOR RESEMBLING GANDHI

Sonepat resident Karamchand Kher was arrested by local police under Section 124A for ‘excessive resemblance to Gandhi.’ Villagers revealed that he plans to plead guilty, as ‘he himself is conscious of this flaw’.

“Thanks to rampant food inflation, he has been losing weight regularly,” said village headman Kanti Lal, “But once he started cleaning his own bathroom, we had to take action. We don’t want the village to get a bad name because of him.”

The culprit himself seemed resigned to his fate. “Ideally, I would have preferred to resemble Salman Khan,” he said, “But we cannot choose our own destiny.”

He doesn’t know himself. But the same rules Gandhi was arrested under before independence still apply today.

“Ideally, I would have preferred to resemble Salman Khan”.. Ha ha!! 😀 ..

Poor chap! excessive resemblance to Gandhi as a reason to arrest?! Is that even possible to arrest on a such a trivial reason?

Vinay, they can pretty much arrest you for whatever they feel like. Thanks for reading. I don’t seem to be able to stop myself!

In India today you can be put in the cooler for no fault of yours whatsoever. If you’re Muslim, that’s as good a reason as any.

And you can get hauled in for “drinking tea in a suspicious manner”.
